35th International Publishers Congress Set for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia The 34th International Publishers Congress ended on December 5, 2024, in Guadalajara Mexico. Its closing statement stressed key promises about copyright, freedom to publish smart tech use, eco-friendly practices, and teamwork across borders. Hugo Setzer, who leads CANIEM (the Mexican Publishers Association), felt proud to host the Congress in Mexico after 40 years. He pointed out how rich the talks were and how they'll shape publishing for years to come. Gvantsa Jobava soon to be President of the International Publishers Association (IPA), had good things to say about the Congress. She plans to use the final statement as a guide during her time as president. She thanked the Mexican hosts for all their hard work and warm welcome. At the end of the event, Sheikh Faisal Sheikh Mansor, who leads the Malaysian Book Publishers Association (MABOPA), shared some news. He told everyone that Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, will host the 35th International Publishers Congress in 2026. He asked publishers from around the world to come to Malaysia. This lines up with Malaysia's plan to welcome more visitors in 2026. The Guadalajara Congress also gave out some big awards. These included the IPA Champion Award, the IPA Innovation in Publishing Award, and the 2024 IPA Prix Voltaire.
